USDA Secretary Perdue and Rep. LaMalfa Visit Jones Pumping Plant

USDA Sec. Perdue tours Jones Pumping Plant

On June 28, USDA Secretary Sonny Perdue and U.S. Congressman Doug LaMalfa (CA-01) visited California and toured the Jones Pumping Plant. The Jones Pumping Plant is essential for supplying agricultural, urban, and wildlife water to parts of the Delta and to the San Luis and San Felipe Units of the Central Valley Project.

Authority staff and Board Members provided the tour of the Pumping Plant to Sec. Perdue and Rep. LaMalfa, sharing an update on Central Valley Project operations and California water.

During their tour, Secretary Perdue and Representative LaMalfa learned more about the mission of the CVP, and about the complex network of reservoirs, power plants, canals, and other facilities that help to bring water to approximately a million California households, 3 million acres of food and fiber production, and to major wildlife areas throughout California.

The San Luis and Delta Mendota Water Authority appreciates the opportunity to update Secretary Perdue and Representative LaMalfa on the important mission of the Central Valley Project, and of the Authority.
