The San Luis & Delta-Mendota Water Authority on behalf of its members expresses deep appreciation to Sen. Dianne Feinstein and Rep. Jim Costa for their joint letter asking Governor Jerry Brown to declare a state drought emergency. South of Delta agricultural and urban water agencies face significant challenges next year even if precipitation returns to normal in the coming months. A drought declaration would provide a number of state and federal authorities for addressing ongoing drought conditions.
