The San Luis & Delta-Mendota Water Authority deeply appreciates today’s letter from Senators Feinstein and Boxer,
as well as Representatives Costa and Garamendi, that urges the State Water Resources Control Board to defer any further decisions to address California’s water crisis until after March 21 so that more information can be considered. Our elected officials understanding of the significant effects State Board decisions could have on California’s economy and social wellbeing is vital if a better balance of competing water needs is to be struck. California’s farmers are reeling from an unprecedented drought, made worse by 20 years of federal regulatory policies favoring unproven uses of water over the needs of millions of Californians supporting our agricultural, municipal, and environmental interests.
